Our Commitment To Accessibility

Site Design Squad believes that the internet should be accessible to everyone. Around one in four people in the UK are disabled, and many face barriers when they try to use websites and other digital technology.

To help remove those barriers, we design websites using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2, and we aim for Level AA as a minimum. WCAG is an internationally recognised set of recommendations for making web content more accessible.

You can read more about WCAG on these pages:

Our Website’s Accessibility

We aim for this website to meet WCAG 2.2 at Level AA. We test it regularly and fix problems when we find them. Accessibility is ongoing work for us, not a one-off job.

How we test our website

We test this website with both automated tools and manual checks. These include:

We also involve disabled people and people who use assistive technology in our testing. Their feedback shows us problems that tools miss. Testers are paid for their time and can stay anonymous.

Known limitations

We know about the following issues and are working on them:

  • Content from clients’ sites shown in case studies (screenshots) may not have alt text conveying all details; we provide summaries in surrounding text.
  • Third-party content: embedded content and plugins from other companies, such as maps, may not fully meet WCAG. Where we can, we provide an accessible alternative.

If you find a problem that is not listed here, please tell us. We value your feedback.

Compatibility

This website is designed to work with the latest versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, on current versions of Windows, macOS, iOS and Android. Some features may not work in very old browsers or with JavaScript switched off.

Help with browsing the web

We have written an accessibility tips guide to help you get more from the accessibility settings on your phone, tablet or computer.

The guide explains how to make text bigger, change colours and contrast, have pages read aloud, use a keyboard or your voice instead of a mouse, and turn on captions. It also lists free accessibility tools you can try.

Feedback and support

If you have difficulty using this website, or you need content in a different format such as an accessible PDF, large print or plain text, please contact us. We will do our best to help and to fix the problem.

It helps us if you include:

  • the address of the page
  • the browser and any assistive technology you are using
  • a description of the problem
